Code of Conduct


Check-In and Identification

All attendees must check in upon arrival. Each attendee will receive a wristband, which must be worn at all times while on the Sutherland property.

Supervision and Respect

This is a supervised event. Attendees must respect all chaperones, volunteers, and adults in charge. Respectful behavior toward others is expected at all times.

Event Boundaries

Attendees must remain within the designated event areas. Off-limits areas are prohibited. Leaving the property without permission is not allowed.

Dance Conduct

Dancing should be clean, safe, and appropriate for a prom environment. Risky or inappropriate dance moves are prohibited, including but not limited to:

  • Lifting: Picking up or hoisting another person off the ground.
  • Grinding: Suggestive or sexually explicit dance movement or contact.
  • Twerking: Exaggerated hip thrusts or shaking in a provocative manner.
  • Body Slamming: Forceful or aggressive movements, including pushing or shoving.
  • High-Risk Breakdancing Moves: Headspins, flips, or similar stunts with a high risk of falling.
  • Overly Aggressive Partner Dancing: Unsafe spins, dips, or throws.
  • Explicit Gestures: Movements or gestures that are sexually suggestive, aggressive, or offensive.

Enforcement: Prom staff and chaperones reserve the right to remove students from the dance floor if behavior is unsafe or inappropriate. Repeated warnings will result in removal from the event at the committee’s discretion.

Re-Entry Policy

Once students enter the prom, they may not leave and return. No student may go to their car without being accompanied by a chaperone.

Prohibited Items and Substances

Absolutely no tobacco, alcohol, weapons, smoking devices, vaping, or illegal drugs are allowed.

Medical devices such as Epi-pens and inhalers are permitted but must be disclosed on the registration form. If you did not disclose a medical item during registration, please email cchpcommittee@gmail.com before prom.

Bags and Personal Belongings

No bags or backpacks are allowed. Ladies may bring a small clutch purse, which can be checked at the check-in station.

Registration Agreement

All attendees must read and sign the Prom Conduct & Attire Agreement during registration. All attendees are expected to follow the agreement throughout the event.

Liability

By allowing your teen to attend, parents agree not to hold the Carolina Capital Homeschool Prom committee, volunteers, or The Sutherland Estate & Gardens responsible for any accidents or injuries.

Transportation and Early Departure

Parents providing transportation should arrive for pickup by 11:00 PM.

Attendees are expected to stay until 10:00 PM. Any student needing to leave early must inform the chaperones at check-in. For students under 18, parental permission is required to leave before 10:00 PM.

Parents must email cchpcommittee@gmail.com to approve early departures.

Behavior and Dismissal

Respectful behavior is essential. If a student is asked to leave by a chaperone or staff member, their parent will be contacted. No refunds will be issued for dismissal due to behavior violations.
